Staff Librarian: Alice Worley Jones, MSM Class of 1973,
B.S.E., M.L.S.
The MSM school library exists to serve all departments
in supporting the school curriculum with the highest
quality of services and materials available. The school
library strives to encourage and motivate students
to develop a love of reading and become lifelong learners.
Library hours are Monday through Friday (during the
school year) 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Students may use
the library before or after school, during their activity
period, or as part of a class.
The loan period for books and other materials is as
follows:
General collection - 14 days circulation
Reference books - overnight circulation, if approved.
Renewal of all materials is permitted as long as they
are not on reserve for other students, faculty or staff.

As of August 2007, the MSM library has approximately 15,000 volumes in its collection. Periodical subscriptions include two Arkansas newspapers and more than 35 magazines.

The library collection

system.
The library hosts 10 computers and full Internet
access. Students and staff have access to several
online databases (available on and off campus)
and CD ROMS (on campus access only). Usernames
and/or passwords are necessary for home use.
Passwords are given by the librarian. There are
two laser printers and one copy machine available
for student use.
All school rules and regulations are in effect
while using the materials and services in the
school library media center.
Donations of books, magazines, and audiovisuals
are accepted. Any donation is considered a gift-in-kind
and is tax deductible. The librarian reserves
the right to dispose of items that are duplicates
or are not appropriate for a high school curriculum.
Often, this means donating the items to a feeder
school, selling to a second hand bookstore for
credit, or donating to the public library book
sale.
If you have materials you wish to have considered
for donation, please contact MSM
librarian Alice Worley Jones '73, at 501/664-8006,
ext. 200.
MSM Book Club
The MSM Book Club meets between six to eight
times a year. There are two different clubs:
one for the freshmen and sophomores, and one
for juniors and seniors. Both clubs meet during
students' activity period.
The Book Club has adopted the name "NERDS" and is
proud to be known for their creative t-shirts. The
Book Club is open to the entire student body.
Broadcasters
The school news is broadcasted each day during
homeroom from the library's media room. A student must audition to be selected
as a broadcaster. Selections are made at the
beginning of each school year.
