Alumnae Relations
Since her founding in 1851, more than 20,000 alumnae
have emerged from Mount St. Mary Academy stronger in
faith, intellect and friendships. And throughout the
year, the Mount offers opportunities for alumnae to
reconnect with friends and rekindle fond memories.
The Mount St. Mary Alumnae Association assists in
promoting and organizing various events, including
the annual "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun" picnic, and
the Day of Recollection service.
The "official" purpose of the Alumnae Association
is to preserve the traditions of Mount St. Mary Academy,
to unite the graduates of the school, to establish
and maintain an association for mutual contact among
members and to support the school and its projects.
But in short, we want to have fun!

Alumnae Association Update
Dear Alumnae:
 |
| Leigh Ann Crain ’87 |
What a wonderful year we had at Mount this past year. The Spirit and energy at our alma mater continues to grow. I had such a great time seeing the students, staff and alumnae work together to continue and improve on the traditions we experienced ourselves at this amazing school – “there’s no other like her!”
After a hot summer we celebrated the cooler temperature with the fifth annual “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun” Picnic. We had a record-breaking turnout with over 220 alumnae in attendance. This proved to be a great way to reunite with old friends and meet new ones. I encourage you to make plans to attend the sixth one on September 24th. You won’t want to miss the fun!
To refresh and rejuvenate our souls, we offered the fourth annual Lenten Evening of Reflection on February 19. We were excited to have Cackie Upchurch, Director of Little rock Scripture Study for the Diocese of Little Rock, in attendance to lead the night of prayer and reflection. The night drew in over 115 alumnae which was once again a record breaking number of alumnae, mothers and female friends. It was a great evening of renewal and fellowship for all supporters of the Mount.
With the outstanding attendance of our alumnae events my conclusion is that you, our alumnae, are more involved than ever. I want to personally say thank you for your continued support and dedication to the school. I welcome any ideas, thoughts or concerns that you may have to make OUR alumnae association even better.
Is your class planning a reunion? Class reunions are being held for the following classes this summer and fall: 1998, 1993, 1988, 1973, 1968 and 1958. It is going to be a very busy summer at the Mount. Be sure to check out the MSM website (www.mtstmary.edu) to catch up on what is going on with our alumnae or to get more information about a reunion or to plan one for your class.
Come one come all to the sixth annual alumnae picnic Wednesday, September 24 from 5:30 P.M. until 7:30 P.M. You will not want to miss this great event and be sure to “wear” your Mount pride. Other important dates to remember include Lenten Evening of Reflection Tuesday, March 10, 2009 and Alumnae Induction Prayer Service Wednesday, May 6, 2009.
In closing I would like to thank the great group of alumnae that served on the board this past year and I look forward to serving as your incoming president and giving back to “the best school we know of.”
In Mercy,
Leigh Ann Crain ‘87

Alumnae Picnic
6th Annual Girls Just Wanna Have Fun Picnic, September 24, 2008
The 5th annual Girls Just Wanna Have Fun Picnic on September 26 was a huge success! More than 220 alumnae -- representing the classes of
1932 through 2007--socialized and reminisced in the McAuley Center Gymnasium as they dined on Corky's barbecue. The threat of rain caused the picnic to be moved indoors, but the move planned to be a welcome change of venue for many! Plus it helped showcase the gym renovations and new Heritage Hall. Looking forward to seeing everyone at next year's picnic!

Susan G. Komen Arkansas Race for the Cure
15th Annual Race, October 11, 2008
The Mount was well represented at the 14th annual Susan G. Komen Race for the
Cure on Saturday, October 20 in downtown Little Rock. Mount team leaders
Jennifer Hankinson Lasseter '96 and Mary-Margaret Rasco Marks '98 assembled more
than 215 students, alumnae, faculty, parents and friends. MSM stood out in their
white race T-shirts that featured the bright pink and black message: "MSM
Supports Arkansas Race for the Cure.. Like Nun Other". Special thanks to Meagan
Uekman '07 for designing the shirt.

Class Representatives
It is the goal of MSM and the Alumnae Association
to have two women from each graduating class, (1940s
to the present) as representatives for their class.
These reps help us stay up-to-date on who from their
class has moved, has a new job, received an award
or special recognition, gotten married, had a baby,
or perhaps has died.
The class reps also assist with class reunion committees
by providing data, and work with volunteers to sign
Annual Fund solicitation letters to their classmates.
We also ask reps to attend MSM alumnae events when
possible.
If you are interested in becoming a class representative,
or would simply like to get in touch with your class
representatives, please contact .

Alma Mater
We all love St. Mary's,
The best school we know of.
We'll boost her and hail her
To Heaven above.
She's our alma mater.
There's no other like her.
And all through life,
We'll pledge to her
Our loyalty.
St. Mary's so stately
In knowledge she's shining.
We'll always be pining
For her when we're gone.
We'll always remember
In May or September,
From day to day,
In work or play,
Our loyalty.
Good-bye to St. Mary's
The best school we know of.
You've given us friendship
And knowledge and love.
And though we'll be leaving,
We'll always believe in
The things that you've taught
For you've still got
Our loyalty.
